Stream Setup Guide
A complete walkthrough to integrate AI translation into your broadcast. (PC Chrome Recommended)
Step 1: Initial Setup
Choosing the Right Input Mode
Momory offers three input modes to suit different streaming styles. Choose the one that fits your setup.
1. Mic Mode (Standard)
Translates only your voice captured from the microphone. Best for solo chatting or game streams where you only want to translate your commentary.
2. Media Audio Mode
Captures audio from a specific browser tab (e.g., YouTube, Twitch, Browser Games). It translates all audio playing in that tab.
3. VC Mode (Collaboration)
Captures both your microphone AND a browser tab audio (e.g., Discord for Web). It distinguishes between 'Me' (Mic) and 'Partner' (Media).
Important Usage Notes
Copyright (All Modes)
Be mindful when translating third-party content (movies, etc.). This applies to microphone input as well.
Consent (VC Mode)
Always obtain consent from partners before broadcasting their voices.
Pro Tip
For Discord, use the **browser version** in a separate tab as your media source for the best results.
Get and Save Your API Key
First, get your Gemini API key from Google AI Studio. This acts as the engine for your AI translations. Return to the Dashboard, paste the key, and save it. Your key is stored securely in your browser's local storage.
Get Gemini API KeyConfigure Languages
Select your spoken language and the languages your audience speaks. You can display multiple translations simultaneously.
Go to Dashboard to Set UpAI Models & API Tiers Guide
Momory allows you to choose between two modes depending on your Gemini API key type. Understanding these will help you get the best stability and privacy at minimal cost.
011. Standard Mode (Default)
Optimized for Gemini's standard limits. It uses a safety buffer of approx. 4.5 seconds before subtitles appear to prevent rate-limit errors.
022. High-Speed Mode (Beta)
An experimental high-performance mode for Paid API keys. Reduces the delay before subtitles appear to 1.5 seconds, providing near-instant feedback.
Recommended Configuration
Use a Paid API key with the 'Smart (2.5 Flash Lite)' model in Standard Mode. It automatically turns OFF data training and offers high stability for only about $0.10 per 3 hours (est. average speech).
Important Privacy Note
Data privacy (training on/off) is determined by your Gemini API Key type, not by Momory's internal mode switches. Paid API keys (Tier 1+) guarantee full privacy. Momory itself never stores your data.
Step 2: AI Tuning (Optional)
Give the AI a Persona
Use the 'AI Prompt' field to give specific instructions, like 'Translate in a friendly, casual tone.' This can make your stream unique.
Set AI PersonaTeach the AI Your Words (Dictionary)
Use the Dictionary feature to teach the AI specific pronunciations for proper nouns, technical terms, or your own unique slang.
Go to Dictionary SettingsGrowable AI, Interactive Learning
Just by praising it like "Nice translation!", the AI learns your style in real-time. With each stream, it grows into your very own best interpreter partner.
Try it on the DashboardStart Live Translation
This is the control panel for your live stream. Click the mic icon on the dashboard to start. The translations you see here will appear in your OBS overlay window.
Go to Dashboard to Go LiveStep 3: OBS Integration
Choose the best method to get your subtitles into OBS.
Recommended: Direct OBS Connection (WebSocket)
This method offers the lowest latency and highest stability by connecting Momory directly to OBS. No window capturing is needed.
Enable WebSocket Server in OBS
In the OBS top menu bar, navigate to Tools > WebSocket Server Settings.
Check the Enable WebSocket server box.
For security, check Enable Authentication. Click Show Connect Info to reveal and copy your Server Password. You will need this in the next step.
Optionally, check Enable System Tray Alerts to get connection notifications.
Finally, click Apply and then OK to save the settings.
Add a Text Source in OBS
In the OBS scene where you want to display subtitles, click the + icon in the Sources dock and select Text (GDI+) (Windows) or Text (FreeType) (Mac/Linux).
Give it a name, for example, MomorySubtitle.
Connect Momory to OBS
Go back to the Momory Dashboard. In the 'Direct OBS Connection' panel, enter the server details.
Paste the password you copied from OBS into the Server Password field.
Enter the exact name of the text source you created (e.g., MomorySubtitle) into the Text Source Name field.
Click Connect. The status badge should turn to Connected.
Fine-tune Text Source Appearance
Right-click your text source and select Properties. We recommend these settings for clarity:
- Font:
Inter,Arial, or any clear sans-serif font. - Alignment:
Center. - Outline: Check
Outline, set color toBlack, and size to5-10.
Adjust Layout & Size (Transform)
Next, right-click the source > Transform > Fit to screen. Then, drag the edges of the red bounding box to adjust the subtitle area to your liking.
Alternative: Overlay Window Capture
This method is suitable for users with multiple monitors or those who prefer a more traditional browser capture setup.
Customize Overlay
On the Dashboard, click 'Open Settings' in the 'Overlay Window Capture' panel. Here, you can style the subtitles.
Launch Window & Add to OBS
After styling, click 'Open Overlay Window'. In OBS, add a new 'Window Capture' source and select the window titled 'Momory | Overlay Subtitles Window'.
Apply 'Chroma Key' Filter
Right-click the new Window Capture source in OBS and select Filters.
Click the + icon under Effect Filters and choose Chroma Key.
The default settings will make the green background transparent.
Your Privacy Comes First
Momory is designed for creators who value privacy and transparency.
On-Device Storage
Your API key is stored only in your browser. It is never saved on our servers.
Ephemeral History
Conversation history is temporarily buffered in your browser's memory for context and is never saved to any database or server.
Purpose-Limited Data Use
Data is sent to Google's API via Momory for the sole purpose of generating your live translations. Note: If you use the free tier of the Gemini API, Google may use your data to improve its AI models.
